Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Heights 1454

Join us on a walk across the "Great Bridge" - once the longest suspension bridge in the world - as we learn about its creation and early history.  We'll discouss the work of the Roebling family, the designers of the bridge, and the sacrifice and dramatic story of the immegrant workers who built it. We'll hear about Stephen Brody, the only prson originally credited with jumping off the bridge - and living to tell about it, and PT Barnum, whose spectacular theatrics instilled confidence in New Yorkers to cross the span. Then we'll take a walk through Brooklyn Heights to see the church where Lincoln worshipped; the house where Truman Capote wrote Breakfast at Tiffanys; and the residence where Arthur Miller courted Marilyn Monroe. We end at the Brooklyn Promenade to view the magnificent Manhattan skyline at twilight - only step from Grimaldi's Pizza, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, the River Cafe and the restaurants and cafes on Montague Stree. Trip includes motor coach transportation, and tour leader.
