Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, New York 1461

In the late 1960's and early 1970's, Russian Jews - most from the Ukrainian city of Odessa - came to the United States and settled in Brighton Beach, which as the story goes, reminded them of their hometown on the Black Sea. the community flourished. Take a guided tour which highlights the neighborhood nicknamed "Little Russia." You will have time to wander down the town's main thoroughfares and see signs greeting you in Cyrillic lettering on stores selling colorful handicrafts, jewelry, bakeries, international food emporiums and more. There are local cozy cafes serving food rarely seen outside of Moscow, like stroganoff, pirogi or borscht. We will have lunch at Tatiana's, named after an Odssa beauty. It is located on the boardwalk with an exhilarating view of the Atlantic Ocean - a perfect complement to the excellent food. Served family style - you will enjoy three salads, borscht or mushroom soup, chicken Shish-Kebab with Russion coleslow or fish filet with pasts, and Apple Strudel with ice cream. You can visit Coney Island boardwalk and Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, and will have additional time to stroll the Boardwalk. Trip includes  motor coach transportation, tour director, local guide and lunch.
