Registration Information

  •   You may register for classes as soon as you receive your catalog.  We begin recording registrations at the close of business on Friday, February 8.
  •   Because the catalog reaches our readers over a period of time, all registrations received up to and including Friday, August 31, will be treated as though they were received on that day.
  •   A public lottery will be held at 4:30 pm on Friday, February 8, only for those classes that are filled by February 8.  Those persons not selected will be notified immediately and placed on a waiting list.  After that date, registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis.  (Trips are not included in the lottery; they will be on a first come first serve basis.)
  •   Assume you are enrolled in the class(es) for which you are registered.  If a class is full or canceled, you will be notified by phone and/or mail.  We cancel classes that are under enrolled shortly before they start.  Register early to ensure the course you want has sufficient enrollment to be offered.
  •   A full refund will be given if a course is cancelled or is full, you need to withdraw before the start for any reason, or you are not completely satisfied with any aspect of the program.  A written request for all refunds must be sent to the Continuing Education office.
  •   Tours & Trips - Cost for one-day trips includes non-refundable but transferable to another person fee.  Everyone must pay the full tuition.  No tuition waivers apply.
  •   The West Hartford Board of Education waives the tuition fee for West Hartford senior citizens (age 62 and older) and people with disabilities for up to two courses per term.  To help defray our expenses, a contribution of $10 or more per course is suggested.  Non-resident senior citizens and people with disabilities pay the resident rate.
  •   All West Hartford Continuing Education activities are held in accessible locations.  Individuals with a disability who require an accommodation in order to participate in any class, programs or activity, or when taking the GED exam please contact the Continuing Education Office at (860) 523-3535.
  •   You pay the $6 registration fee only once per term, independent of the number of courses or number of times you register.

Satisfaction Guaranteed
We offer diverse educational programs of the highest quality at a modest price.  If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with any aspect of the program, please let us know and we will make it right.

Class Cancellations
In the event of inclement weather, listen to radio stations WTIC 1080 AM/96.5 FM, WDRC 1360 AM and 102.9 FM; WVIT Channel 30; or call the Continuing Education Office at (860) 523-3535.  You can also call the West Hartford Source Line of the West Hartford Public Schools at (860) 233-2334.  Whenever the West Hartford Public Schools are closed, Continuing Education classes do not meet; this is announced early in the morning.  Should snow or other severe weather develop during the day, class cancellation is announced by late afternoon.  Cancelled classes are made up by adding on an additional session after the last scheduled class.
